When there are multiple signers for a given Role (for example, multiple personal guarantors), the DocuSign integration supports matching description of that signer (for example, their name) with the DocuSign actions that signer is supposed to take.
To support this, the DocuSign integration relies on the ASPIRE Document Templates being designed in a specific way (described below).
If not configured in a supported way, it can result in DocuSign prompting a signer to sign (or take other action) in a place that may not make sense. For example, a signature block that is labeled with one signer's name where a different signer is being asked to sign in that block.
Most commonly, this is caused by use of the "Record to Return" modifier on the data tags related to the descriptors (name, etc.) of the ASPIRE account from which the signer is derived or the data tags related to specific DocuSign actions (sign, initial, etc.). "Record to Return" modifiers cannot be used in templates intended for use with the DocuSign integration
Supported Methods for Multiple Role Signer Scenarios
While "Record to Return" cannot be used, there are other options to achieve the goal of having all required signers to the necessary actions to correctly execute on contract agreements.
